How To Prevent Your Child from Having Worms
« on: September 06, 2009, 09:07:44 PM »
Children are the most curious people in this world. They have no sense of danger which makes it more difficult for parents. One of the effects of this is that children get worms in their body. This really happens and it can really be a hassle for your child. A child with worms can be identified because of their itchy bottoms. They will begin to walk in a funny way trying to be unaffected by the itchiness of their behinds. As a result of this, the child becomes very stressed, irritable, and angry. If you think that your child is suffering from this, you may need to check for some marks on the skin. The rash is about 2cm in size around the area on the butt.

There are certain ways in which your child can get worms. The primary way in which a child can get worms is through their mouth. Children have the natural tendency to touch everything they see, regardless of whether it is clean or not. If they do not clean their hands the might put it in their mouth of even eat with their hands and you can just imagine how it goes. Once the worms are in your system, they are most active during the night. They lay eggs in the area where the anal passage is and this results to the itchy skin irritation. When the child scratches this part, they need to wash their hands because the eggs can get trapped there and spread to anything that they touch. This can lead to contamination of other children.

Treating the children for worms can be done. There are no complicated procedures that must be followed in order to remove a worm. The first thing that you have to do is roll a cotton tip on the infected are- the vagina for girls and the anus for boys. By wiping these areas, you will prevent the worms to lay eggs and the itchiness is will be gone. If you want instant relief, apply Vaseline on these areas.

Go to your pharmacist and ask for the medication for this. There are different types of medication for your child to battle with the worms. These are usually taken once, but do not forget to take it again after 7 days because the worms might come back.

Washing your clothes with hot water and dry them out immediately. Worms can live even if they are not in the body. So if there are worms on these, and they are not washed immediately, then you are risking yourself to  be infected by worms. Make sure that you and your child is always protected from these nasty worms.

Teach your child how to wash their hands. You child must know when and how often do they need to wash their hands. If they learn how to wash their hands, they will be saved from contamination of these worms. This is why it is really important that as a parent, you teach your child proper hygiene because there are a lot of consequences, like worms if you do not.
