Programs for Babysitting
Given proper training, teenagers have the potential to be great babysitters. Especially for teenagers who do have younger siblings, they are more likely to know about entertaining kids but at the same time asserting their authority with them. If you are looking for a babysitter, make sure that who you will get is someone calm as well as patient. It is also a must that she knows how to give first aid. There are programs administered in community centres and 4-H which teach people effective babysitting. They can give potential caregivers training on first aid where they will be taught how to handle minor wounds, bruises and cuts. Most programs for first aid instruct students on how to know when medical treatments are needed. Included also in these programs is a CPR certification.  These programs train potential caregivers on how to correct children’s behaviour through calm responses and positive reinforcements. They may also include ideas on how to entertain children safely. Examples include how to make sure that the children are safe as they use blunted scissors, how to respond when the children ingested glue, as well as other accidents that may hapeen while looking after the children. When deciding whether to hire a particular babysitter who was under training programs such as these, it is recommended that you contact the agency where she received her training then review their curriculum.

CPR
CPR, which stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is used after incidents of cardiac arrest to restore heart beat and normal breathing. Basic trainings in first aid and CPR are mandated by all states to be provided to childcare providers. While they differ on the exact regulations, most workers working on full- time are required to submit within 6 months of working on a day care centre their certificates which indicate that they finished a certain training course. CPR certificates are valid for 2- 3 years. By attending training classes all over again, workers can be re- certified. Part- time or seasonal workers on the other hand, have a more lenient time limit about submitting their CPR certifications. However, this differs by state again. To prove the quality of services that they provide, daycare centers must keep their employees’ training documentations. For parents whose children attend a home daycare, you must be aware that for daycare providers to be licensed, they have to receive CPR training as well as certification first. It is recommended that you ask for the CPR certificate of the caregiver of your children.

Trainings for First Aid
. Children are generally curious and adventurous so most of the time, they do suffer minor injuries, bruises and scrapes and this is exactly why professional caregivers must have trainings for first aid. These trainings and seminars are often sponsored by local hospitals, Red Cross and community centres. Here, students are taught how to slow or slow down a wound’s blood flow, clean and bandage scrapes, and treat victims of heat stroke, hypothermia and shock. First aid cannot in any way replace medical care provided by professionals, but what it can do is to minimize the person’s injury. How much education in first aid is required from staff members differs in each state.  The minimum standard, however, is that there should always be at the very least one person who has a first aid certificate present. Other states, however, required all the workers to have first aid trainings from certified and approved courses. It is important to remember that centers boasting about trainings in first aid per se are not enough to guarantee that the newly hired day care providers have also received the same training. It is important to ask your child’s caregivers what kind of trainings for first aid does she have.
