The rule is simple: the lighter the board, the easier it is to ride and perform tricks on it. And the weight depends on what it is made of. Progress does not stand still, and almost every season new technologies and lighter boards appear. And only one thing remains unchanged: the lighter the board, the more expensive it is.

Board length and width
Most wakeboards range in length from 120cm to 150cm and are sized based on the rider's weight and height. There is a special correspondence table in the catalog. When in doubt, it is better to choose a longer wake, as a tall and large rider will be uncomfortable on a small board. Generally, the shorter the board, the less stability when starting out of the water and when cornering, so for beginners, a long board is also suitable, which will be easier to learn. The width of the board is generally proportional to the length.

Bending the board (Rocker)
A wakeboard is not just a foam board for a lot of money, it is a curved board. Slight buckling largely determines its "character". The larger it is, the softer and more stable the landing, the smaller it is, the more dynamic the acceleration and the higher stability on the water surface.

Keely (Fins)
Keels are needed to give the board longitudinal stability when moving on the surface and landing. Without them, it will spin by itself from side to side. All wakeboards are sold with keels and can be changed on all wakeboards. What for? Large (deep) keels - higher stability of the board when moving in a straight line, slightly less - faster "reaction" when turning. Deep keels are more suitable for beginners, but they can also be used on rough water (chop). When riding on smooth, calm water, it is best to put on small, maneuverable keels. Traditionally, the board has two keels, one on each side. Over the past couple of years, boards with four or six keels have appeared, and "built-in" keels (a specially formed bottom) have also appeared. All this made it possible to reduce the size of the keels and, at the same time, find a compromise between stability and maneuverability.

What's the bottom line?
It is better to start skating on beginner and intermediate-level boards. They are more resilient, safer and more forgiving. In addition, they are inexpensive, since no additional high-tech equipment is used in their creation. In other words, you will save tons of money before you realize that wakeboarding is what you least wanted to do.

Regardless of how often you wash the boat, once a season or every weekend, its surface becomes matte, shine disappears, scuffs and scratches appear. The matte scratched surface of the gelcoat spoils the appearance of the boat, dirt and flora elements eats into it, which eventually destroys the structure of the plastic. In order for the surface to be glossy, dirt and fouling does not eat into it, it is necessary to polish the surface.
Polishing is the process of removing the top micro-layer with various abrasive materials and giving the surface a glossy, mirror-like surface. In ship repair, the process of polishing is more complicated in comparison with auto repair, it requires a lot of experience, special tools and materials. Many of our clients, after polishing their boats, do not recognize their boats, the appearance is striking in its brilliance, the boat looks like new. But besides the appearance, there is also a practical benefit: the polished surface of the boat glides better on the water, grows more slowly with algae, which reduces fuel consumption.

Another option for caring for the hull of the boat is to cover the bottom part with a special antifouling paint. Antifouling coatings are mainly epoxy-based, applied in several coats (2 coats of Prime Cout, i.e. a primer coat and 2 coats of antifouling paint itself) has a matte but smooth surface.

How it works? When the craft is in the water for a long time, its bottom below the waterline becomes overgrown with algae and shellfish. As soon as the boat starts to move, the top micro layer of paint, along with fouling, leaves the bottom, and the surface becomes absolutely clean and smooth. Why is this needed? Primarily, an antifouling coating creates an additional protective layer on the surface. Secondly, the slip coefficient increases, which leads to fuel savings of up to 20%. Thirdly, your boat always has an excellent view.

How often should an antifouling coating be applied? As a rule, all manufacturers of antifreeze give a 2-year warranty, but much also depends on the quality of the work performed on applying paint, the chemical composition of the reservoir, the frequency of use of the boat, the speed limit and other factors. In our practice, there have been cases when the boats we painted went for 4 seasons until the next painting. Coating a boat with antifouling paint is associated with a number of nuances and technological methods, without knowing which it is impossible to perform this work efficiently. The work began with a phone call. The owner pulled his boat out after the storm. The craft was torn off the pier and hit the pier for a long time. We agreed to meet in order to assess on the spot the scale of the destruction of the hull, draw up a work plan and an estimate.

At the place, our upset owner was waiting, who absolutely did not understand what to do with his beloved boat now.

We made a comprehensive diagnostics of the boat, calculated the cost of surface restoration and the time it would take. The case was difficult, but not critical, since fiberglass is a very repairable material. If the fiberglass body even received a hole, it can be sealed without losing surface quality. And after polishing it is no longer possible to find the place where the damage was. In fact, the fiberglass body can be returned to a new look.

Having washed away the dirt and fouling, we repaired all the scratches, chips, cracks and returned the bottom of the boat to its original state. The complexity of this work was in the almost complete absence of the keel part of the bottom, and during the restoration, the main task was to preserve the geometry of the bottom so that the hydrodynamics of the boat did not change. The second problem was the presence of a raised floor, which did not give access to the damaged parts of the bottom from the cockpit side. But thanks to the extensive experience of our specialists and the use of the latest technologies in the field of composite materials, an excellent result was obtained.

Also, additional work was carried out to restore the functions of the boat after the storm: the hull was covered with antifouling paint, we polished the deck, carried out dry cleaning of the cabin and salon. Diagnostics of the electrical, fuel and drainage systems was carried out, a new fender was installed, the fittings in the cockpit and cabin were replaced (locks, hinges, handles). The performance of the Volvo Penta 4.3 engine was also restored.

The owner of the boat was pleased with the result of the repair. In the spring, it is planned to install an echo sounder, a multimedia system, sewing and installing a running and transport awning.

Modern technologies make it possible to make products and parts from fiberglass for various conditions, non-combustible and resistant to chemical exposure. Fiberglass is easily reduced by almost any damage, and the result of a qualified and high-quality repair is an ideal surface identical to a new one.

Times do not choose ... We, like all of you, tried in 2020 to avoid losses as much as possible ... Thank you for being with us all this difficult time. Briefly about the results of the outgoing year and plans for the new one.
The beginning of 2020 did not bode well for anything unusual. One of the world's largest boat shows in Dusseldorf, as always, amazed with its scale. BRIG has deployed its exposition on a record area of 400 square meters. All models of RIB boats were shown, and the Eagle 8 received the title of the best RIB in the world.

At the booth of Tohatsu, a Japanese outboard motor manufacturer, there was a presentation of a new line of four-stroke Tohatsu MFS 75/90/100/115. The first prototype was presented - the Tohatsu MFS 115 A engine, volume 1.995 cubic meters. cm, maximum speed 5000-6000 rpm, electric start, weight 178 kg. The new Tohatsu MFS 75/90/100/115 engines feature an equidistant exhaust manifold for the first time, which provides the best torque in its class. In the new Tohatsu series, the length of the exhaust ports from all four cylinders is the same. Exhaust gases from different combustion chambers are mixed with each other, merging into one powerful stream. This technology eliminates the exhaust gas interference found in conventional exhaust manifolds and provides the best performance over the entire engine speed range. I was pleasantly surprised by the design of the new motors, which are available in two colors - black and white.

After the motorboat exhibitions in Helsinki and Oslo, the boat show was discontinued in 20. The situation was incomprehensible. Exports are hanging, sellers have lost the possibility of personal contact with the buyer. The borders were closed, and no one understood how to continue the business.
