As you know, grouped product in Magento 2 cannot include custom options, which makes customers order inconveniently sometimes. Therefore, to solve that issue, an extension called Magento 2 Grouped Product with custom options (https://bsscommerce.com/magento-2-grouped-product-with-custom-options.html) is developed to help store owners to add simple product with custom options. Moreover, now with this extension, admin can show or hide image of associated products as wish for better performance.
