American Soldiers bill would Create Path to apply for US Citizenship
Legislation proposes that would allow illegally present immigrants to join the US Armed Forces and earn access to US permanent residency. Under the bill, introduced this week, illegally present immigrants would be able to join the military and could apply for permanent residency after five years if they have served two years active duty or four years in the reserves and have demonstrated good moral conduct.This is basically a carve out from the DREAM Act bill focusing on military service and not pursuing higher education.
