For Canadian visitors Air Travel to the U.S. Gets Easier!
Flying to the United States will be faster and more convenient for Canadians who will have access to expedited security checks at airports from early 2013, the federal government announced Thursday.
The NEXUS card program will expedite travel to the U.S. for pre-approved and low-risk passengers as part of a broader security agreement signed by Canadian and U.S. officials on December 7, 2011. Canadians will soon be able to use NEXUS cards as accepted proof of identity for frequent travelers at Canadian and U.S. border crossings.
The NEXUS card program will be available at Canada's eight largest airports in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The card will cost $50 and be valid for five years. According to the U.S. Government, the change will allow passengers to book connecting flights with tighter timelines. It will also result in fewer missed connections and delays as well as additional costs for airports and airlines.
