Replacement of Green card (http://www.immigrationdirect.com/greencard/index.jsp) need to be done for several reasons such as expired, about expire, lost, stolen or damaged etc. Form I-90 is supposed to be used for the above mentioned reason as well as if name was changed legally. If there was any USCIS administrative errors, to correct the information.
Within 6 months of green card expiration, its necessary to renew green card (http://www.immigrationdirect.com/greencard/renewal-green-card-Form-I-90-replace.jsp). If cancel the submitted application, need to submit a written request.
