Title: Top Features Missing from MLB The Show 26’s New Additions
Post by: VelvetNova on May 20, 2026, 09:21:33 PM
MLB The Show 26 rolled out some exciting additions (https://www.u4n.com/news/whats-missing-from-the-new-additions-to-mlb-the-show-26.html) this year, including the overhauled Franchise Trade Hub, the Automatic Ball-Strike (ABS) challenge system, and Parallel XP (PXP) Mods in Diamond Dynasty. Yet despite these upgrades, the community has voiced frustration over several key features that remain absent, leaving gaps in realism, gameplay variety, and user control.

1. Structural Off-Field Realism (Franchise Gaps)

While MLB The Show 26 has made strides in trade management, several off-field mechanics still feel incomplete:

International Free Agency: Modern MLB rosters are shaped heavily by international prospect signings. Yet, the game offers no formal system to bid on or acquire international talent, limiting strategic roster building.

Three-Team Trades: Even with 4-for-4 trade capabilities, blockbuster multi-team deals remain impossible, curbing realism for players who enjoy orchestrating complex transactions.

Player Opt-Outs & Flexible Contracts: Contracts in the game are rigid. Players cannot insert opt-out clauses, front-load or back-load salaries, or exceed restrictive maximum AAVs, leaving financial management feeling simplified and unrealistic.

2. Missing Modes and Roster Control

Beyond structural gaps, some gameplay modes and customization options remain notably absent:

Removal of "March to October": Sony San Diego decided to remove this streamlined seasonal mode in favor of focusing on the main Franchise experience, a move criticized by casual and new players who appreciated its quicker playstyle.

Exhibition Match Lineup Freedom: Users still cannot pre-set lineups based on pitcher matchups (LHP vs. RHP) for online Ranked or casual play, reducing strategic depth.

Custom Draft Classes: Draft pools remain entirely procedural and fictional. Unlike other sports franchises, there’s no option to import or create custom draft classes, limiting personalization and replay value.

3. Gameplay Realism & Dynamic Engine Limits

Despite improvements to core mechanics, some in-game physics and visual fidelity remain lacking:

Dynamic Weather & Ambient Realism: The game does not include real-time weather changes, rain delays, doubleheaders, or dynamic crowd sizes that reflect team performance, missing opportunities for immersion.

Player Body Collisions: Outfielders can phase through each other or stadium walls, creating unrealistic defensive plays that break visual continuity.

Next-Gen Visual Overhaul: Even with current-generation consoles and handheld upgrades, stadiums, crowd models, and field textures still struggle to feel fully “next-gen” compared to other contemporary sports titles.

4. Quality of Life & Economy Restrictions

Finally, several limitations affect user convenience and Diamond Dynasty progression:

Useless Duplicate Cards: There’s still no way to quick-sell or exchange non-sellable duplicate cards, cluttering inventory management unnecessarily.

ABS for Online Play: The ABS challenge system is currently restricted to offline modes. Ranked online matches rely on default strike zones, limiting fairness and enjoyment for competitive players.
