Title: I’m a freelance illustrator and I’ve been thinking about incorporating some tech
Post by: crowl on March 24, 2025, 05:37:08 PM
Hi everyone! I’m a freelance illustrator and I’ve been thinking about incorporating some tech into my printed zines. Does anyone know a way to merge animation or video with physical artwork, preferably something not too technical?

Hey, good question! I’ve been experimenting with similar ideas, and you might want to check out Stories AR https://stories-ar.com/ (https://stories-ar.com/) . It’s basically a platform where you pair a still image with a video, and then you get a QR code or a link. When people scan the code with their phone, the image "comes to life" with your video overlay. It’s such a cool way to bridge digital content with physical media. I’ve used it in a small print run of comics, and the readers loved it—adds a whole new layer to storytelling. Plus, it’s super easy to use, and they give you a two-week trial without asking for payment info. Definitely worth exploring if you want to blend traditional and digital art in a creative way.(https://s2.radikal.cloud/2025/03/25/SNIMOK-EKRANA-2025-03-25-003950a845c5d93aee0b4b.png)

That sounds like an exciting fusion of print and digital! One creative way to merge animation or video with your printed zines is through augmented reality (AR). Apps like Artivive or Adobe Aero allow you to link digital animations to your physical artwork—viewers just scan the zine with their phone, and the artwork comes to life!
Another low-tech but interactive option is embedding QR codes that lead to short animations, behind-the-scenes videos, or even soundscapes that complement your illustrations. It adds an engaging, immersive layer without altering the physical essence of your zine. Would love to see how you bring this idea to life!
