1. Many of your best prospects might tell you NO 10-20 times over a period of 1-2 years before they eventually join your team.

7. Get your prospect to an event, such as a conference call, webinar or live event.

8. Expect objections and be prepared for them. Know the most common 5-10 objections and have an answer for each one.

1. Leaders innovate, they don't duplicate. Every successful rep I know builds their business differently from their successful upline mentor AND their downline leaders build their businesses differently from them. Focus on what works for you. 2. Build up your database. Keep track of EVERYONE you EVER talk to about your products or business opportunity. Keep it all in a notebook. If you talked to just 3 people a day for five years, you would have more than 5,000 names in your database. If you simply stayed in touch with these folks from time to time, you would never have to prospect again.

3. If you decide to use the internet to grow your business, like I do, please don't think you can just sit behind your computer and sign people up without doing anything. Use the internet to meet people, but realize you still must connect with them on a personal level, if you expect them to join your team. My key to success is to meet people online, but take that relationship offline as quickly as possible. Get your prospect on the phone, SKYPE, Facetime, or face to face as quickly as possible.

You Don’t Get to Choose the Timeline for Success
We live in a society where people expect instant gratification. We want it and we want it now. As a result, most people are impatient and expect things given to them instantly.

When it comes to network marketing we are told it is a three to five-year plan. That is assuming you are ALL IN and contacting lots of new prospects each day.

Two to five years to change your life and potentially become financially free is a great deal. Remember, the time will go by anyway, whether you build the business or not.

It’s not a three-month plan or a three-week plan or three-day plan. THREE…TO… FIVE…YEARS. I see so many folks order once or twice and then give up because they aren’t making money.

No legitimate business works that way. You have to lay the foundation, which normally takes a couple years. Most business owners take a COUPLE YEARS just to get profitable. The real beauty of our industry is that you can, and should be profitable from your first month.

Remember, it takes time to build anything worthwhile. It took you at least four years to graduate college and probably took you at least a year or two to really win the love of your current spouse. Why would you expect to be making tons of money in a new business venture within a few months, even a year or two?

Manage Your ExpectationsYou must learn to manage your expectations in this business. Every day I see people join the industry and expect to make money right away. It always makes me laugh.What you have to realize is that most entrepreneurs in the traditional world take a couple of YEARS before they make their first dollar of profit. On ther other hand, people think they will make $500, $1000, even $5000 of profit their first one or two months in this industry. It doesn't work that way (althought it is possible). It takes time to build a successful business in any niche. Owning a business is not like having a job where you trade hours for dollars. Instead, you are building you an asset that pays residual, ongoing income. It's going to take time to build that asset! You need to have vision AND patience.Here's what I suggest you do. First off, determine how much you would realistically like to make in two years from now. Next, study your company's compensation plan and determine exactly how many leaders, distributors, customers and volume you will need to reach that income goal. After you figure out those numbers, do some backwards planning and determine what you must do each month over the next 24 months to get where you want to go. This is much better than just having a lottery mentality and hoping for the best. Simply put, set some goals, come up with a plan and get to work. Put on your blinders and stop looking at your business day to day, week to week, even month to month. Instead, look at it from year to year. One final tip. Here's some advice I got from one of my mentors. He told me that the only way to be disappointed is to have expectations of others. Therefore, expect nothing of every customer, prospect and team member, but hope for the best. That way they will never let you down.

"What skills do I need to learn or brush up?"

Recognize which skills you need to develop in order to run your
business most effectively. Identify the ones that are worth
investing time into learning, and which ones you might be better
off finding outside sources to perform.

"Do I enjoy challenges?"

Businesses provide constant challenges. If you enjoy a good
challenge, it will energize you. If you don’t, you may end up
feeling as though you’re engaged in a constant uphill battle.

"Will I be doing work that is meaningful and really interests
and excites me?"

When you’re engaged in doing something rewarding it helps to
motivate you to keep going even when things get tough. Start by
getting back in touch with your values and see if there is a
synergy between them and the things you will be doing in your
business. If not, see how you can spin things so that there is.

"Do I really have a money-making idea?"

Not all great ideas make money. A good business idea addresses a
problem, need or pain that a particular group of people or
companies face. The problem must be significant enough to
warrant spending money to solve or alleviate. Before bringing a
new product or service to market, test your ideas and make sure
they’re profitable.

"Who are my ideal target customers?"

Every business needs customers. Successful businesses know
exactly how to describe who their best customers are, what
“pain” they’re feeling and what they need, want, desire and are
willing to pay for.

"Who is my competition?"

Learn everything you can about the others in your field who
provide similar products or services to the same ideal customer
– direct and indirect competition.

"What do I offer that the competition doesn't?"

What makes your services or product unique above my competitors?
This is your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) – what you’ll use
to make to your prospective customers buy your product or
service instead of buying from your competition. Why should your
customer make you their Marketer of Choice?

"Have I established business goals?"

Setting goals is an important part of any business plan. But
setting a goal is only part of the picture. Achieving goals is
even more important. Learn how to identify which goals are
important enough to commit to, and systematically work towards
them by breaking them down into steps, establishing timelines,
identifying resources needed, and benchmarks for success

"Am I a self-starter?"

When you have your own business, there’s no boss or manager to
tell you what to do and when to do it. To get your business off
and running you’ll have to motivate yourself to get things
started!
