Title: Anastomotic Leak
Post by: jamesrayenz on February 12, 2011, 07:30:19 AM
Anastomotic leak is the collapse of the length of the anastomosis, which leads to leakage of fluids. When using a device such as hollow Anastomoses that needs to be cut off the intestine and connected to allow fluid flow through it, the most common because part of the device needs to be removed. The gastrointestinal tract is not the only site where you can do to anastomosis; It is also possible to cut and reconnect blood vessels and in this way, and similar actions in the urinary tract. Make the anastomosis requires a good skill on the part of surgeon.Leaks can develop at the site of anastomosis to a number of reasons. One of the reasons for anastomotic leak is the fault of the surgeon who leaves is incomplete or weakens it, allowing it to leak under pressure. Another reason is poor wound healing; surgical sites sometimes do not heal well despite the best efforts of the surgeon and when that site is the anastomosis, it can leak. And anastomotic leak can also develop as a result of infection, fluid accumulation, or stress is expected to join.
